Meet Lauren
At age 12 I was privileged to co-teach a Kindergarten Sunday school class using flannelgraphs to depict Bible stories. Though my methods have changed (no more flannelgraphs), I’m still excited about teaching the Bible. (Just not to Kindergartners.) For the past 6 years I have been pastoring young adults at the same church where I once volunteered with kiddos. In that role I promote Bible engagement, community, and spiritual formation. Practiced together, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, these elements result in real growth, change, transformation. And that is what I’m passionate about.
Second Corinthians 5:17 tells us that when we are in Christ, we are a new creation – the old is gone and something new is here.
But sometimes we live in that tension between the old and the new.
Which is why I also work as a licensed professional counselor. Jesus calls us out of the grave, like he did for his friend Lazarus in John 11, but sometimes Jesus enlists others to unwind the grave clothes. That is how I see my role in the profession of counseling.
With my combined experience in ministry and mental health, I offer Biblical teaching, psychological insight and pragmatic ideas to encourage growth in your life.
I value growth in my life as well: striving to overcome struggles, along with the grace of God; pursuing dreams that I believe He placed in my heart. My husband is my biggest supporter. We met in Bible college where I studied Christian counseling and he studied music ministry. We have been married for 12 years and have 3 beautiful children. I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and curating beauty in my home.
